Frequently asked questions
A clinical study is a medical research project in which experimental treatments, devices, or medications are tested on human subjects, under the supervision of medical staff, to determine whether they are effective and safe for curing, preventing, or controlling a disease.
Important discoveries have been made through clinical studies: new medications for cancer, diabetes and other diseases; ultrasound, X-ray and diagnostic equipment; vaccines; smoking-cessation treatments; and improvements in medical procedures. There is no guarantee of personal benefit, but the results may help other people in the future. Participation is always voluntary.
Your participation will allow you to learn about your state of health at the start of the study, but it does not imply any other additional medical benefit beyond financial compensation and the knowledge that you contributed to medical science.
Yes. Your participation is voluntary: you may refuse to participate without penalty or loss of benefits, and you may withdraw at any time. Your participation may also be discontinued if the study physician determines it is necessary, for example due to serious adverse reactions.
No. The medications and all supplementary studies required by the research protocol are completely free of charge. Neither the physicians, nor the health team, nor the institution will charge you for the studies or medications received.
